According to the book series "The Lion King: Six New Adventures," Kopa was the son of Simba and Nala. (The cub we see at the very end of The Lion King. Since the cub we know as Kiara at the beginning of The Lion King II: Simba's Pride is not only a girl, but of completely different coloring, fans theorized they are not the same.)

Since there is a distinction between the cub at the end of The Lion King and the one at the beginning of The Lion King II, fans began to winder what happened to poor little Kopa? Disney has never come out with an official explanation, but the fans have theorized plenty. Most of the theories involve Zira, Scar, or one of the other Outlander lions killing him.

No. Officially he exists only in the book universe wherein he doesn't die. He isn't an official movie character. The cub in the end of the first movie was never and still isn't Kopa. In its own film as in, in the canon, it is called "Fluffy" and has no gender. That is because the first film's makers say so on the commentary track of the film. And the official sequel film doesn't make any kind of references to other cubs besided the daughter Kiara and thus there wasn't anyone else. (They are professional movie makers and do put it all essential plot points). So the genderless cub "Fluffy" blends into the daughter Kiara in the official movie universe. Kopa was creted and exists only in the books wherein he didn't die.
