Don't prune your mums after July 1st. Otherwise it will not bloom in the fall.
The chrysanthemums that florists use are annuals. However there are perennial chrysanthemums and as long as they are not planted too late in the year to develop a good root structure, they will survive the winter and bloom again.
Garden chrysanthemums-late or otherwise come back year after year. The key to keeping them looking good is cutting them back. If you're too softhearted to prune, your chrysanthemums will bloom twice-in spring and autumn. However, they'll have long, floppy stems with pitiful little flowers. In late winter, cut dead stems to the ground. New leaves will sprout from underground roots. In mid spring, when chrysanthemums fill out with leaves and flower buds, shear plants down to 8 inches tall. Around the Fourth of July, prune and shape them by pinching off soft green stem tips. Test to make sure you're tipping only soft tissue by pinching the stems with your fingernails, and take off only that pliable part of the stem. Then, let the mums grow. They'll develop flower buds for brilliant bloom when you want it, in late autumn.
Too much salt can kill plants including chrysanthemums.
Chrysanthemums are day length sensitive, meaning the amount of light they receive determines when they will bloom. Normally they do not start blooming until September. Depending upon the variety you have, it could be as late as the end of October.
No, it's a bad idea to prune a pin oak in spring, as you may be increasing the chances of its infestation by the fungus oak wilt. Better to prune it when dormant. By the time oak wilt is diagnosed, it is too late to save the tree.

To prune an overgrown rhododendron effectively, start by removing dead or damaged branches. Then, selectively prune back long or leggy branches to encourage new growth. Avoid cutting too much at once to prevent stress on the plant. Prune in late winter or early spring before new growth begins.
well the best time to prune if once it has flowered, but if your not bothered about loosing some flowers then yes it should be fine just be-careful not to take to much away hope this helps
Chrysanthemums grow best when there is a lot of light available to them. They do best in fertile, sandy soil which should be well draining as they are susceptible to mildew.
It's best to prune rose bushes in the spring, well after the last frost. While roses are hardy plants, pruning them while it is still too cold discourages new growth. If someone wishes to prune their roses too late in the season, it is recommended that the bush is pruned well above the desired length, then again in the spring.
Chrysanthemums need water so they have to be watered in droughts. If it is too wet, they can get fungal diseases. They can get aphids, spider mites and leaf miners. New cuttings can get bacterial infections. And chrysanthemums are toxic to children and pets.
