You need to trim the hole first. Then, you need to bond the subpatch material to the hole with adhesive. Then you need to mix to the right color, sand the repaired area and paint the area with leather dye.
There is a type of glue known as Goop, which is your best bet for gluing leather to foam. A well stocked hardware store will carry Goop.

Since Goof-off is designed to dissolve adhesives, it should work (assuming that is what you're trying to do). I would be a little concerned about staining or discoloration. If possible, test it on an inconspicuous area before using it on a more visible area. Another option would be baby oil, which could help condition the leather as it softens the adhesive. Again, though, I would test it first before using it in a visible area. Depending on the type of adhesive you're removing, you might be able to use a piece of fresh duct tape to remove the adhesive.
Try Goo Gone first, it's quite benign and will often move glue and leave no marks on fabrics and leather. Goof Off is stronger and will remove more sticky glues, but may leave a mark. Test it first on a piece that's not normally visible.
