It really depend how old the kids are. There is not really anything inappropriate in the story, with the exception of the whores. but there is nothing graphic in that sense. One of the characters just becomes one. so in that sense, yes it is appropriate for kids. but if the kids are to young, they won't understand it, and that is really important. Les Miserables deals with a lot of stuff like freedom, rebellion, love, and death. as a warning, most of the characters are shot. I first saw this musical when i was 11, and my sister nine. but I'd read the book already, and me and my sister had been obsessed with the musical and theatre in general for a very long time. It really depends how old the kids are, and how mature. you can take little kids to it, but they might be scared of the barricades, or get bored. I 'd say, read up on the musical, watch some you-tube video's, and trust your judgement. but in all yes. it is a good show for 7+. though if the kids already know the story, any age is fine. I'm just saying 7 or 8 because younger kids might get bored.

"Les Miserables" may not be appropriate for all kids due to its intense themes of poverty, revolution, and death. It also contains adult themes and scenes that may be overwhelming for young children. Parents should consider the maturity level of their child before allowing them to view or read "Les Miserables."
