No, liquid B-12 and shots are not the same.

Liquid vitamin B-12 is taken by placing it under the tongue and letting it absorb through the thin tissue there (sublingually). The body can only absorb a very little vitamin B-12 this way. B-12 shots deliver vitamin B-12 directly to the bloodstream in large amounts that the body can use immediately.

A good alternative to B-12 shots are transdermal vitamin B-12 patches (like a stop smoking patch, only with vitamin B-12 instead of nicotine). They are very effective, inexpensive and less hassle than a doctor's office visit. If you are getting B-12 shots or have been prescribed them, ask your doctor if a patch can be used instead.

Capsules or tablets are good, they are cheap and convenient. You need fairly high dosages.

Keep on top of the B12 blood levels with blood work (so you don't escape the needles)

B12 by needles should be done by a professional to assure hygiene and skill levels.

The B12 shot is a concentrated, methylated form of the vitamin, while most B12 pills (and even the lozenges, sub-lingual and liquids) found in stores are a cyanocobalamin form that is not nearly as potent.

With injection of cynocobalamin you are sure about the absorption of the drug. Liver can store very large quantity of this drug, though it is water soluble vitamin.
