Nope, it is completely unnecessary, and potentially damaging. From what I can tell it simply checks your applications folder, and then checks the folder where your applications store their data. It then compares them, and removes stored application data for applications it thinks are no longer there. The problem is, this can fail to make the connection between an application support file, and an application, resulting in the applications' data getting deleted.

Adobe produces separate versions of Photoshop for the Mac OS X and Windows operating systems. The Mac version works on Macs using Mac OS X and the Windows version works on Macs that are running Windows. (see links below)
Compaired to macs windows are a little cheaper but macs are WAY better
A mac is very good at downloading. I am us using a mac book pro right now and I have downloaded many applications. It detects bugs and viruses better than a PC. It loads faster and is easier to find and open. The one thing that bugs me is that you have to make sure you get the right software with the correct specifications of your mac. For example my mac version is 10.6.4 and I could not get something that is 10.3.4 or lower. This may sound confusing but its not. Most downloads work with the newer macs or with all macs. There are however many applications that you can get for the mac and not for the PC. I would say yes the mac is good at downloading.
