Under two it is probably one minute. Elementary school age is probably 15 minutes. Junior high maybe 30 minutes because they also need time to cool down then reflect. Teens are too old for time out so it is necessary to sit at the kitchen table and have conversation right then and there discussing the house rules and the boundaries that were crossed.
