How do the mass and height of an object affect the gravitational potential energy?

Apex Mass and height have the same effect on gravitational potential energy.

What happens to the total mass of substances during a chemical reaction?

During a chemical change, chemical energy may be changed to other forms of energy.other forms of energy may also be changed to a chemical energy.

How would you explain the difference between potential and kinetic energy?

Kinetic energy is energy related to movement. The formula is (1/2) mass times velocity squared. Potential energy is energy of position. The formula for gravitional potential energy is mgh (mass times gravitation times height).

How do different forms of potential energy depend on the objects position or chemical composition?

Basically potential energy is always stored in a body because of its position or chemicalcomposition. Firstly, I will elaborate potential energy because of position. The formula of potential energy is P.E = mgh which shows that a body of mass "m", is when at a height of "h" then it has potential energy equivalent to mgh. In this formula "g" is the force of gravity that is 9.8 newton. Now when a body changes its position then if there is an increase in height then potential energy is produced. The reason is that mass of body and gravity is constant while only height is changing, therefore, P.E is only dependent on height in such case. When a ball is thrown up then it gains P.E. Similarly, Elastic potential energy is produced when it is stretched and it stores energy. Potential energy is dependent on Chemical composition in the case of atoms and molecules. The structure of atom has a specific orbital arrangement. When atoms form bonds then their position is changed and they can go from lower orbit to upper orbit. In this way the newchemical composition has changed the potential energy of atom.

What is conserved when one balances a chemical equation?

Mass (Matter) and Energy is conserved during a Chemical equation

Which equation explains mass defect?

E=mc2. There is potential energy involved in a chemical reaction, or in a nuclear reaction; in both cases, less potential energy means less mass, because of the equivalence of mass and energy. (Note: In chemical reactions, the mass defect is so tiny that it is usually ignored.)

Seven types of energy?

the seven types of energy: kinetic, potential, thermal, electromagnetic, chemical, nuclear, and mass

How is chemical burn similar to nuclear fusion?

Energy is released - in one case from chemical potential energy stored in the electrical bonds, and in the other from the nuclear potential energy stored by the nucleons in the nucleus and seen as a reduction in mass.

How does mass and height affect potential energy?

Increased mass and/or height increase potential energy.

What type of energy is a hot cup of tea?

The heat is thermal energy, but it also has several other forms of energy (including mass energy, potential energy, chemical energy, etc.)

Book on a shelf potential or kinetic energy?

Carry it up a cliff. ************************** Increase the height of the object or increase the mass.

What will happen if you increase the mass of an object what will the potential energy do?

If you increase the mass of an object, the potential energy will increase.

What do potential energy and kinetic energy have in common?

they have mass

Potential energy of the mass m?

Gravitational potential energy is calculated as mass x gravity x height.

Does a microwave have kinetic or potential energy?

both. If moving we have kinetic. also have chemical energy stored in our bodies and that's potential energy. there is also physical potential energy stored in us if we are held up in the air with the possibility of falling.

What would be the skaters speed if all the potential energy could be converted into kinetic energy?

Clearly, that depends on the amount of potential energy. If given the height, calculate the potential energy with the formula for gravitational potential energy (PE = mgh). If mass is not given, you can assume any mass (it doesn't affect the result), or use a variable "m". Then, assuming it gets converted to kinetic energy, use the formula for kinetic energy (KE = (1/2)mv2), replace the KE with the energy you calculated before, and solve for v (the speed).
