Technically, transparency is not an on or off (yes or no) thing. There is a degree of transparency and one quantifies this by saying how much (and at what wavelengths) light is transmitted through a medium.
Nonetheless, in daily language people say something is transparent when most of the light passes through and a transmission of far lesss than 97 percent falls into that category. Similarly, people use the term opaque when most of the light does not pass through a material but that usually means no detectable light or a very small fraction of light passes through.
A material through which nearly all light passes is called a transparent material.
transparent materials
You cannot see air. Light passes through it.
the light is transmitted through the transparent material into the water which is transmitted untill it hits soething opaque amd the light is absorbed into that.
Transparent objects allow light to pass through them in straight lines

Opaque - light does not pass through. Transparent - all light passes through. Translucent - some light passes through.
A prism. It can be made of glass, crystal, or other hard clear material.
transparent, or translucent

The object will be invisible, unless of course it is refracted, in which case the refraction will scatter the light. And light will refract through any change in material medium.
