DO NOT TAKE THE TWO TOGETHER BEFORE YOU TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR! Methadone is a very strong pain reliever and could be fatal if taken with out a doctors supervision.
I currently take 150mg of oxycodone, 160mg of Oxycontin and 30mg of methadone. so yes you can take both. but something to remember you need to take them at the same time or so I have been told, If you do not I have been told one will block the other. Also the methadone attaches it self to a different pain receptor then the Oxycontin or oxycodone so it amplifies the effects ten fold! It in no way blocks anything If taking correctly methadone is used all the time for chronic pain patients like me. it lasts longer then the other medications and offers a different type of pain relief. So when your taking methadone and oxycodone together you're attaching to both sides of the pain receptor. Which gives me almost 100% pain relief.
No do not mix any type of pills that are used to treat inflammation or bacteria for example amoxicillin or penicillin they can have and adverse effect on the methadone and can make methadone users go into deliersion or have bad effects. It is not recommended to mix together without consulting the Dr prescribing the methadone.
Yes. Methadone is very effective in its treatment of opiate addiction and makes it more manageable. Methadone helps you function more and lasts much longer than oxycodone so you only have to take one dose a day to feel fine. It is important that you are under a doctors supervision when using methadone and that you do not start off taking too much. It is very dangerous when you take your first doses of methadone because it is so strong. And just because you have tolerance for oxycodone does not mean you will have tolerance for methadone.
Both methadone and oxycodone are opioids that can be addictive when not used as prescribed. Methadone is often considered to have a higher potential for addiction due to its long duration of action and the way it binds to opioid receptors in the brain. However, individual susceptibility to addiction can vary, and both drugs should be used under the guidance of a healthcare provider.
The main drawbacks for an addict, are that methadone withdraws are more severe and prolonged than coming off of 'street heroin'. Most addicts taking methadone are on it for a long time. Methadone is an addictive substance - the longer you are on it the more you need! Which is why the amount of addicts who actually achieve abstinence whilst using methadone is very low. Methadone dose not stop the obsessive behaviour or thoughts associated with addiction. Addicts usually end up with two addictions - to the methadone and to the heroin! In general, and at best, it can be described as a harm reduction measure. It is cheap to produce and controllable by the Authorities. Which is why it has been, and continues to be used.
oxycodone is safe to get an tatto long as you eat something first it does not thin out blood...stop listen to non educated people and do the research about the drug
It is not considered safe to taper off Methadone during a pregnancy due to the possible stress on the fetus. The studies have not conclusively proven that Methadone is toxic to a pregnancy. Any pregnancy that does taper off of Methadone must be done in-patient so that monitoring of the fetus can be performed. Please see the related link below for more information.
they think that they wont get addiction to it . and they think they can stop at anytime they want to. :P
Stop using Methadone.
You need to stop taking the substance, it is the only way to be free of the demon. It is painfull, both physically and psychologically but after a few days, weeks, or months you should return to your old self. Then you'll need to find something healthy to fill the void left by the opiates.
Yes methadone will greatly reduce withdrawal symptoms. However methadone is an opiate. So going off of it will also cause withdrawal symptoms. The advantage of methadone is that it is long lasting, lacks the same initial rush of heroin. This makes addictions more manageable. It also reduces the risk of overdose.
Yes it can. I have been told by my doctors that since I take oxycodone for pain that my periods may stop till I stop taking the medication.
yes
Methadone will not cure your heroin addiction. It will only keep you from going through withdrawal if you continue taking it. Once you stop taking the methadone, you will start going into withdrawal. Methadone, as well as Suboxone, are opiate antagonists. They feed your physical dependence on opiates, and they block an opiate high, so even if you relapse and start using heroin again, you won't get high on it. Heroin, Suboxone, methadone, opium, hydrocodone, hydromorphone, oxycodone, codeine, etc...these are all opiate drugs (made from the opium poppy). Methadone (as well as Suboxone) is just an opiate that won't get you high. It helps you quit getting high, but it does not cure or get rid of your physical dependence on opiates. When you are ready to stop taking Suboxone, you wean yourself off of it very slowly, usually over a period of several months. I would assume the same is true of methadone, but I have never taken methadone, so I don't know too much about it.
