In my opinion, new moon is the most boring of all novels in the twilight saga. edward is in the beginning and in the end of the novel. mostly it is about Jacob and Bella's story. but it will be confusing to read the latter two books if you have not read new moon.
EDIT: Depends on you. Ever heard of team Edward and team Jacob? Well, the people who are on team Jacob love the second book. You should read it to either love Jacob or really love Edward.
