No, mice are not strictly herbivores, they are omnivores. In the wild, they will eat insects, and it is suggested to feed them protein if you breed them. If mother mice feel threatened, they will even cannibalise their own babies. They do this in order to give them a nicer death than a predator would, and in order to regain some of the energy they lost by having them. In the mother's eyes, she can always have more babies, but no one will live if she's too weak to escape from being eaten herself.
