Some of the sikhs from "AWAL" punjabi kahtri family were given the name "MODI", through there work. As back in the days, people were given names based on there work. Modi means businessmen. Thus, sikh modi are actually khatri from aval family background. All of these would have a link back to Pakistan occupied kashmir....specifically from Mirpur Dadyal...
