No, it is not an opiate.

It is not a controlled substance and not commonly abused. When used in patch form very little is absorbed into the blood and it is not usually tested for in drug tests.

I dis-agree. I had to use lidocaine for an abortion and just tested positive for opiates in my system with a UA even though the line was faint.

No.

Novocaine is a sodium channel blocking local anesthetic.

Opiates bind to opiate receptors (usually the mu receptor) and include morphine and oxycodone.
