Ocytocin is actually a short-lived peptide hormone (not a drug related to oxycodone) that is more usually related to breast-feeding and the release of milk from the mammaries. But in the case of ADHD cases and chemical dis-orders such as Bi-polar and others, this hormone is normally inhibited and is not always produced in the proper amounts or under 'normal' circumstances.

When you meet someone for the first time, your ocytocin will give you a false or positive response telling you whether to trust that person. In cases of a chemical dis-order such as ADHD, the ocytocin switch is 'off' resulting in distrust and even paranoia. Pet therapy (dogs, specifically) can produce artificial stimulus for the production of ocytocin, allowing dis-order patients to interact easier with others and with society in general. In addition, the synthetic version of this hormone is sold in the US as Pitocin & Syntocinon usually as a nasal spray.
