The Flying Spaghetti Monster is the deity and symbol of the church of the same name, a movement known as Pastafarianism. The Flying Spaghetti Monster, or FSM, was intended to be a satire of the deities of other theists religions. The foundation of the concept of FSM is that, just like God who cannot be seen or felt but must be real because He is the creator of the world through intelligent design, the carbohydrate-filled deity who cannot be seen or felt must also be real because It is the creator of the universe through a drunken stupor. In essence, the FSM was merely created as a sort of mascot for Pastafarianism which draws heavily upon parallel and circular logic.
