Best Answer

Yes. Think of it this way: we will be paying a higher price for organic food now, but it keeps our body in the best possible condition. This means few trips to the doctor and no need to buy expensive drugs. Although non-organic food may be cheaper, in the long run it will cost you more because you will need to go to the doctor and buy drugs to take care of the body that is in bad condition.

Yes, if it is truly organic it is worth the cost. Not all organic food is equal, though, and the best way to get organic food is locally through a grower that you know grows totally organically.

No, for many consumers, organic food is considered a "boutique" luxury--having higher price but no detectable difference in quality. >Misconceptions About Organic FoodThe price of organic food can be affected by many factors. Sometimes, the price is very close to non-organic commercial foods, while in other instances special farming methods increase the price of the foods. There are situations where there is no official definition of organic, so paying the extra money for an organic product is actually a wasted effort unless the company has performed extensive research into their farming methods. Just because a product states that is organic does not necessarily indicate that it has any substantial health benefits that are worth the extra cost.Fruits and vegetables are some of the most widely available organic foods in common grocery stores. Organic produce that are grown locally or very close to the grocery store will tend to be less expensive than organic products that are grown far away and then shipped into the area. More exotic types of produce like zebra tomatoes will be more expensive than the common varieties. In areas that do not have a large amount of organic farms, organic produce might be considerably more expensive than commercially grown produce due to the low supply. It should be noted that there are standards that define organically grown produce, so if the fruits and vegetables are identified as organic, they actually have been grown according to organic guidelines.Sometimes, the price of organic food is not justified because there are no standards that define what organic means for the product. One area where this is true is with fish and seafood. Even though a fish might be labeled as organic, there is no way to know exactly what that means. Many alternate labels exist such as wild and free range, although because there are no organic standards, these fish could still have been raised in polluted waters or might have mingled with fish that have high levels of chemicals in their blood. In this case, the price of organic seafood is not worth it.When looking at the price of organic food, it should be understood that products that are labeled as organic are different from all other products. The USDA certified organic label means that products have met with stringent requirements. Products that are labeled all natural or natural are not certified in any way.
