some people might say it is not like art because you recreate other peoples models by diagrams.
though learning the techniques is a creative process and as you go along you can make your own accents in he models or even create your own.
that is why i think origami IS an artform but like some other techniqus it takes a while before you can get to express yourself.when you start making your own paper this levels up the art-factor in my vision, because you adept the paper to the model instead of the other way around and this needs some creativity.
