Told to take 4 -500 MG of Amoxicillin one hour before dental appointment

because of knee replacement surgery. I noticed during

my visit a week ago that the day after my dental appointment I got a

pen tip size hole in my small finger. It started to bleed. It took me

over 1 1/2 hours to get it to stop! just would not clot. The next day it

started bleeding again after trying to peel an orange. Bleed another

hour with out clotting. Since this type of bleeding never happened

before, I do believe that the pills cause blood thinning. And I'm told

to take this dose the rest of my life because of the knee surgery.

Penicillin is not a blood thinner and in fact is given over other antibiotics because it doesn't thin the blood. As always, consult your doctor if you have a concern about any medication.
