Generally, no. Any wine can be made sweet, it is a function of how long you ferment the grapes.

(less fermentation would leave some fruit sugars behind)

Pinot Auxerrois is closely related to Pinot Blanc, another that is usually not used for sweet wines.

Which wine is sweeter merlot or pinot noir?

I really depends on the wine maker. Merlot tends to be a little more fruity and a little more smoother. Pinot Noir can be really sweet, but also can be very dry, alcoholic and/or earthy (not suite). My exspensive, cheap Pinot tends to be sweeter than merlot which tends to be sweeter than more complex and exspensive pinots (espcially from France and Washington). What are you talking about? Merlot is dense, dry and not at all expressive...VERY generally speaking... quite dull...sweet? Not at all. Pinot noir is not at all sweet either, but VERY expressive! I assume you confuse "sweet" with flavors of fruit. Looking for fruit between the two..pinot. Looking for "sweet"...look elsewhere pal. You also might consider some classes in english.

What can you substitute for burgundy wine?

Burgundy is a region in France that produces both red and white. Commonly when someone says "Burgundy" they are referring to the red wine made with Pinot Noir grapes. That would be a good red-wine substitute if you can't find Burgundy at your store; try to pick up a California or Oregon pinot noir instead. They also make white wine in the Burgundy region; primarily it is made with Chardonnay grapes. Thus, if you have to find a substitute for white Burgundy, then get some Chardonnay. A good rule of thumb to remember when cooking with wine: If you wouldn't want to drink it, then don't cook with it. Buy something decent, not something cheap.

What kind of wine do you serve with salmon?

No question in my mind what kind of wine to serve with any kind of fish, a white dry wine. Red wine is too over powering and heady to serve with fish of any sort. There are many who prefer to drink Pinot Noir with salmon. Pinot Noir is a smooth silky red wine that is extremely fruity. It is characterized with aromas and flavors of black cherry or rose petals along with hints of spiciness or herbal qualities. Pinot Noirs are enjoyed for their soft velvety texture. High in alcohol, they are full bodied but not heavy.

Is rose wine as healthy as red wine?

Rose is not as healthy as a dry red wine. Researchers at University of California at Davis have concluded that full-bodied dry red wines contain the highest levels of flavonoids and provide the greatest benefits. The number one wine for supplying the most flavonoids is Cabernet Sauvignon with Petit Syrah and Pinot Noir also ranking highly.
