Neither. It is an electromagnetic radiation, that is one that is part of a whole spectrum or range of radiation of the same basic type, that stretches from long wave radio waves to gamma rays, and includes visible light, microwaves, and x-rays. These all carry energy dependent on the power of the source. Humans react most to the infra red range which is what you feel on your skin in front of a radiant electric fire. Visible light is generally not so powerful and we absorb it in our eyes, but it can be made dangerous as in lasers. Microwave energy is used in cookers where it causes water molecules to vibrate and heat up. Xray and gamma Ray energy is dangerous when more than the safe level, because they cause ionization in the body material which can induce cancer. These are all forms of radiant energy.

Radiant energy is not a form of potential energy. Radiant energy is ONLY a form of kinetic energy.

The energy transferred from a hotter object to a cooler one?

The law says that energy can neither be created nor be destroyed. It can only be transferred from one form to another.... And energy always from higher potential to lower potential... Since hotter object is at high potential and cooler object at lower potential, the heat energy will flow from hotter to cooler object.

Is a waterfall an example of mechanical energy?

From my understanding, yes. A waterfall is an example of potential gravitational energy and kinetic energy. The water is moving downstream at a fast pace (kinetic energy) and when reaching the drop off the water gains potential gravitational energy and drops towards the ground. Mechanical energy is a mix between Kinetic energy and any type of potential energy so yes, a waterfall is an example of Mechanical Energy.

What happens to energy in an endothermic reaction?

An endothermic reaction is a reaction which requires energy. The enegry is required for the reaction to take place, maning the energy is used up in the reaction. An example of an endothermic reaction is photosythesis.

What is released when chemical bonds are broken?

"This is a difficult question to answer exactly since (1) potential energy is not something that is directly measured - it can only be deduced from the heats produced or absorbed in a transformation, and (2) the heat produced or absorbed (enthalpy) in a chemical transformation vary from substance to substance. In general, we expect that when chemical bonds are formed, energy is released - imagine the individual atoms as having energy and have to be slowed down in order that chemical bonds can form. Alternatively, and more accurately, when two atoms spontaneously form a chemical bond it must mean that the entropy of this system has increased, since two separate atoms have more disorganization (entropy) then one complete molecule, then in order for the process to be spontaneous (entropy increases), there must be some heat released. The problem now is relating heat to potential energy. I would rather you relate this to internal energy rather than potential energy (which is not quite directly applicable to chemical systems). If we think of internal energy, we know, by definition, that internal energy is a function of the heat and work that goes in and out of the system. Since most chemical transformations do not involve work, then internal energy is mostly a function of the heat that enters or leaves the system. Thus, when a chemical bond is formed spontaneously, heat leaves the system, the internal energy of the system goes down. You may then think of internal energy as a kind of potential energy and say that because the system is less energetic (since heat left the system) that it must now have a lower potential energy."

Does an object with momentum always have energy?

Not if it's potential energy. Only objects with kinetic energy have momentum.

Is chemical energy kinetic energy or potential energy?

It is a form of potential energy.

Is chemical energy a form of energy?

Yes, chemical energy is a form of potential energy. An example is the chemical energy in coal, which can be burned to convert that chemical energy into thermal energy.

What is the only radiant energy that you can see?

The only radiant energy that I can see is the radiant energy that I call "visible light".It is the main source of my ability to perceive that Grant's Tomb is indeed colored orange.

What kind of form of energy stored in sun?

Potential energy because you use it only when you need it

What are three forms of energy into which radiant energy can change?

The only possible form is via electromagnetic radiation, in the visible, infrared and ultraviolet sections of the spectrum. Cosmic ray particles also reach us but they can hardly be classified as energy

How is radiant energy different from energy of motion and stored energy?

Surprisingly there is little difference. radiant energy transfers watts through massless particles call photons. You could actually push a black sail with light if you had a light source bright enough. The only way to store radiant energy with only one conversion of energy is electrically into a battery; you could use a photovoltaic cell. Still, all forms of energy can be converted to another form.

Does energy only have one name an one form?

No, According to the law of conservation of energy, energy cannot be created nor destroyed, it can only change from one form to another. There are many different types of energy. There is kinetic, potential, radiant, sonic, chemical, and many other types of energy. When you burn a piece of wood the chemical energy in the wood is turned into thermal energy which reaches you by radiation, light energy which is also radiation, and sound energy when you hear it crack and hiss. Hope this Helps

What is a chemical energy a form of?

The name is confusing you. It's called chemical energy when energy is stored in stuff eg...carbohydrates are a type of energy from cerial so it is called chemical energy.(chemical energy in cerial)
