Of course. Religion affects aspects of social and cultural life, even affecting those who do not believe in gods -- atheists. When kept in its proper place, the home and church, it is fine. When, however, it infiltrates the government, its leaders and others who make laws, it ends up affecting everyone -- even those who do not follow the religion. That is not fine since it then imposes its rules on everyone. That kind of government is called a theocracy.
