Religion is the pinnacle of hope, you can not just say "I believe in an entity that will grant me enternal life if am a good boy," that's not good enough, not believeble enough, so, we make up an entire book it, and call it the divine voice of "God"

Think about it, without all the religion brainwashing our minds, giving us hope, reason and meaning, then why are we living? I bet you'd cry harder if you knew that your mommy died and vanished into oblivion, never to be seen or heard of again!

The Bible knew this in a way, the only unforgiving sin is not believing in God, living life without faith is indeed hell....

Of course we do, without religion there are no morals or values. Each day and age has it's own prophet. It's almost like the world's problems are like diseases and each disease needs it's own cure, you cannot treat chicken box with panadol. That is the same with religion, every so often, God sees that the world is in distress and he sends a prophet on his behalf to prescribe the world it's cure for it's problems. As each prophet comes, they bring more modern concepts with them. Muhammed came at a time when people were burying baby girls. He came to prescribe a cure for that day and age. We need to open our eyes and look for a new religion, one whose remedies are for today's modern society nor for thousands of years ago when people would attack each other for a piece of land. Another Opinion: Yes, we do need religion. We need a relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ, which is what true religion is all about. As far as the idea of a prophet for each time, there is a problem with that; many who are called prophets are false prophets, not sent by God. You can look at the lives and teachings of so-called prophets and if they line up with the Bible, they are of God; if not, then they are not. The life of Muhammad did not line up with the Bible in any way. He taught a new god, Allah. The Bible says all gods other than the Christian God are false. Mohammad married a 9 year old. That would be considered statutory rape today. Is that the life of a true prophet of God? And Mohammad is just one example.

We do not need a new religion. We need to turn to the one true God and His Son Jesus Christ. The "old" ways of the Bible are still relevant to today. God has not changed.

In this day and age, many people do not have a religion, and are Atheist or Agnostic. So, yes you can SURVIVE life on Earth without a religion. However, religion is something made up by man. But faith in a God who loves you is the way how God wanted it to be. Me personally being a Christian, I believe that life is not about trying to live up to God's expectations through religion and ritual. But instead living a life of faith and obedience to God. Revelling in love and relationship with a heavenly father. I would reccomend for you to look into this, delve in God's love, and start on an adventure following and listening to God. Accept his gift of grace that is Jesus Christ. A saviour who died so brutally to pay for our sins, dying so that we no longer have to. So that we can stand at the throne of God in heaven when the time comes. If this interests you, go and find a local church and talk to a Christian who can direct you on starting your walk with God :)

Hope this helps x

In Christ <><

If it brings unity and promotes understanding and acceptance - yes. If it creates division and hatred - no.

Religion can be a guide for living a righteous life, but it can also be twisted. That is why Jesus is reported to have said that we should evaluate by the results of the action.

The Baha'i sacred scripture describes the result of twisting religious teachings and how to avoid that. It is very interesting in light of the fanaticism that has reared its ugly head in many religious traditions.

Usually, but not always. For a complete discussion of this issue, especially with the new points made by the Second Vatican Council, please see Fr. Stravinskas's book, Salvation Outside the Church? at the link below. The Church has always taught that for someone who is genuinely seeking God, who leads a good life according to the lights he has been given by God, who is unable for one reason or another to enter the Catholic Church, salvation is possible. Please note that it is possible, hardly easy. Salvation INSIDE the Church is not easy - it is simple, but not easy, and those inside the Church have all the sacraments and grace that Our Blessed Lord has made available in order to live a good life, overcoming sin, etc. Trying to accomplish all of this outside the Church is nearly impossible, but God gives everyone a chance because He loves each and every human being He has made and wants them to come to salvation. Bottom line, yes, "religion" of some sort is necessary for salvation, but not necessarily the religion that we think of, and, even then, it is not easy.

Religion provides a sense of purpose for some people who would otherwise lead purposeless lives. It provides a sense of comfort in time of need, and hope that there is something beyond death. These are worthwhile objectives, but they can be provided for without the need for organised religion, in fact without the need for religion at all. Religion is not necessary.

Religion connects you to the majority of mankind, past and present. No ancient society ever existed that did not believe in the supernatural. Those who dismiss belief may be compared to an astronaut floating away from the lifeline.

Also:

1) Religion may assist you in overcoming peer pressure.

2) Religion will often add to your self-discipline.

3) Religion may provide you with a whole additional layer of education.

4) Religion may provide emotional fortitude, helping one overcome hardships.

5) Religion will provide a sense of identity and a community, with its ambiance and mutual help.

6) Religion provides a life and a sense of purpose.

7) Religion seeks to answer the big questions: How and why am I alive? What does it all mean?
