OK you need to know something very important, salt water doesn't "clean" anything, it's not and antibacterial agent, it's not a cleanser, it's salt water nothing more. Yeah I know that's what they told you to use, but they didn't explain how it works or how to use it so guess what forget it. Here's a simple process that will heal the piercing without a whole lot of grief.
In the shower (done every day without fail) using liquid antibacterial soap (don't use bar antibacterial soap) put a pea sized amount in your hand add water to it and lather it up (nice runny lather that will rinse away easily). Apply it to the piercing and work it into the piercing while moving the jewellery. Then with the shower running rinse the piercing with warm water while moving the jewellery to rinse all the soap off and out of the piercing. Come out of the shower and dry the piercing off, whah la a "cleaned" navel piercing.
Do this soap cleaning routine every day for the first 5 days, after 5 days you stop using the soap and just move the jewellery under running water daily in the shower after you have washed everything else first. You can use the soap once every 5 days of so between the soap cleanings just move the jewellery under the running water.
You don't need anything other than warm running water and the occasional application of antibacterial soap. Leave the piercing alone and it will heal, quicker and nicer than all the treatments everyone else is doing.
Yes. Using salt water is a great way to clean surface piercings and is all natural. It's also great for cleaning other wounds, infections, etc.
You need to keeep it clean with salt water.
I'd say yes. Water attracts bacteria and if you put the band-aid on tight enough, it'll stay soggy/moist, trapping bacteria directly onto the piercing. Just clean the piercing with sea salt and water and let it dry. Then you can wear a dry bandaid to reduce friction and snagging,
If you were to clean your piercing with salt by itself, it would certainly hurt! What people actually clean their piercing with is saline solution- a mix of sea salt and water. (A good ratio to use is 1 table spoon of salt per cup of water.) The saline solution itself should not hurt your piercing. However, sometime cleaning a piercing will irritate it. This may hurt, but the salt is not responsible.
It's the process if healing. If you clean with sea salt (which you're suppose to) it's just drying it out. Nothing to worry about.
Yes if you used boiled water and 1 tsp of salt to 1 pint of water.
Make Sure you keep it clean with mouthwash and salt water
Do you have any spray used for pierced ears? Otherwise lukewarm salt water. You can also use alcohol wipes.
No. You dont want to use any soap or body wash on it. They can be really drying and irritate the piercing. You have to use saline/salt water soaks. Put a pinch of natural sea salt into a shot glass of warm water and use it to soak the piercing. You can either push the glass up against your belly to create a suction or soak a paper towel in the solution and hold that on the piercing for about 5 minutes. Do that 2-3 times a day every day. If thats too drying, substitute one of the salt soaks with just a normal warm water soak.
When I got my naval pierced, the piercer told me to use salt water to clean also. First I had to dip a Q-tip in warm soapy water. I had to use Dial liquid hand soap, the orange kind. I rubbed the Q-tip all around the piercing, without removing it. I then rinsed the piercing with warm water to remove the soap. I used a salt water solution that was made by combining a gallon of bottled water and 1 tablespoon of sea salt. DO NOT use table salt. After creating the mixture, following my piercer's directions, I dipped another Q-tip in the mixture and rubbed it around the piercing. I rinsed it again with regular water and dried it carefully with a paper towel. Now your done and your piercing is clean! Hope this helps! (:
Rinse it with either salt water or an alcohol-free mouthwash after every meal.
Clean your ear piercing with salt water solution. Its 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt mixed in with 8 ounces of warm water. Mix til clear then dip q-tips in the solution and clean your ear piercing gently. Avoid twisting or moving your piercing! Change your pillow case every 2 nights. One side of the pillow case for each night. Avoid touching your piercing unless your cleaning it and keep your hands clean.
