Because it pretty much is liquid candy. Have a look at the list of ingredients in soda pops; Chief among them is sugar and/or sweeteners, artificial or otherwise. What else could you consider it than to be candy?
Jolly Ranchers dissolve in soda due to the combination of the candy's sugar content and the carbonation in the beverage. The acidic nature of the soda, often enhanced by carbonation, helps break down the candy's solid structure, allowing the sugars to dissolve more easily. As the candy dissolves, it releases its flavors and color into the soda, creating a sweet, flavored drink. The process is accelerated by stirring or shaking the mixture, which increases the interaction between the candy and the liquid.
The can is a solid. The soda is a liquid, and the carbonation is a gas.
Soda contains a high concentration of sugar and acid, particularly citric acid. The sugar and acid content in soda can dissolve hard candy, breaking down its structure and allowing it to be consumed as a liquid.
Soda can potentially dissolve or soften certain candies, especially those that are sugar-based or chewy. It can also alter the flavor of the candy by adding a sweet or carbonated taste. However, the specific effect will depend on the type of candy and the ingredients in the soda.
