steam is less dense than mist because the particles in steam have more energy so they are less dense and rise.

but mist is denser because it does not rise into the atmosphere and simply lurks around on the floor and has less energy

What does mist coming from car ac vents mean?

That "mist" is more than likely coolant steam coming from a leaky heater core. Replacing the heater core is your best option.

Is Liquid water less dense or more dense?

Liquid water is more dense than ICE , and More dense than water vapour(steam). Liquid water is at its most dense at 2 oC. Water on freezing to ice expands by about 10% of its volume. This is because of the lattice arrangement of water molecules in ice., which does not occur in liquid water., Hence ice floats on water. (icebergs).

Is the density of steam more or less than the density of water?

Humid air is lighter and less dense than dry air. Steam is water as a gas. Gaseous water is less dense than dry air.

Why does steam take up more space than liquid water?

Steam takes up more space than liquid water because the molecules of water in steam have higher energy and are further apart from each other compared to when they are in liquid form. This causes steam to have a larger volume and be less dense than liquid water.

What do you call thin fog?

Thin fog is often referred to as "mist." It is a light fog that reduces visibility but is less dense than regular fog.

Lead is more dense than air.

Why does steam rise?

Steam rises because when water is heated to its boiling point, it turns into vapor or steam. This steam is less dense than the surrounding air, so it rises upwards.

Earth is more dense.

What makes balloons less dense air?

If a balloon is filled with a substance that's less dense than air ... such as helium, hydrogen, steam, or warmer air ... then the balloon is less dense than air.

Which has highest density steam or ice how or why?

Ice has a higher density than steam. This is because ice molecules are packed closely together in a solid state, while steam molecules are spread out in a gaseous state. Steam is also less dense than liquid water, as the molecules in steam have more energy and move farther apart when transitioning from liquid to gas.
