Why does your harmonica rust?

Most good harmonicas will not rust because they are made of materials that are rustproof, i.e. plastic, wood, brass, nickel, stainless steel, silver and gold. These materials do not for the most part rust, but they may oxidize or discolor when they are used allot. There may be harmonicas of the cheaper type that uses chrome or nickel plated steels the do rust when the plating is worn through. Over use or keeping them in a damp environment would not be wise for these type of harmonicas.
