In taking your own life you are turning your back the one of the best things God has given us, the very gift of life itself. In the bible it says thou shalt not murder (the ten commandments). so therefore it is a sin to commit murder or suicide. However it is worse to commit suicide, because there is no time to be forgiven. By commiting suicide you have commited murder with no spare time for forgiveess. If you commit murder you have time for remorse or forgiveness.

A drunk can enter heaven if he is truly saved. However, he must have accepted Jesus and his atoning, finished work on the cross, personally. What is the Catholic's view of the requirements to get out of purgatory?

The Catholic Church teaches that the souls in purgatory are being purified before entering heaven, usually through the prayers and sacrifices of the living. A person in purgatory needs to have all remaining temporal punishment due for their sins paid off before entering heaven, so prayers, Masses, and indulgences are seen as ways to help with this purification process. Ultimately, the final judgment is left up to God.

Did you know that the Mormons are losing the Mormons are losing and church is abuzz now that gays can marry and enter into heaven?

a. The Mormons are losing - losing what? Religion isn't meant to be a contest, but Church membership has increased every year for over 150 years, so they aren't losing any more people than they are gaining.b. the church is abuzz - kudos for the pun re: deseret / bees / buzzing. Very clever.c. now that gays can marry - kinda relative. In some places around the world it's been legal for gays to marry for 20 years, while other places still sentence homosexuals to death. Mormonism is a worldwide faith, so we need to consider political and social trends on an international level.d. and enter into heaven - the LDS church doesn't deny that gays can enter heaven. They believe that all people are children of a loving Father who wants all to enter heaven. The church teaches that sexual sins, including but not limited to homosexual sex, will need to be repented of in order to enter the highest levels of heaven, but ALL sins can be completely forgiven by God. A gay person has the same access to heaven as any other person, and openly gay people are welcome to be baptized and serve in the church.
