YES!!!! Talk to your doctor. If they don't take addiction seriously with this drug, call a local addiction clinic in your area. I am sure they will help you out. I have really struggled while trying to get off of it.
Answer #2In my experience as a physician, temazepam (Restoril) should only be used as a medicine of last resort in those who the benefit of sleeping outweigh the risk of addiction.
That said; 100% of patients who've taken temazepam 30mg for more than 8 months have gained a strong physical dependence to the drug. This 100% can be sub-divided, however.
Group 1: Addicts
About 5% of patients on long term temazepam therapy for insomnia get a deep, irrational attachment to it, a "security blanket" effect; in other words, addiction. They often need outside counseling.
Group 2: The Physiologically Dependent
The other 95% develop a physical dependence without any emotional attachment and I cannot say they are "addicted", for the course of action is to simply reduce the daily dose by 7.5mg every couple of weeks until they can sleep without it. Remeron is often used during this downward titration. Both to avoid depression and to improve sleep architecture.
