It is difficult to impact the threat of terrorism as an ordinary citizen. Ignoring terrorism to the extent that it is not causing fear, but is being well protected against, is often the best method. Terrorism is a threat because terrorists cause terror. Just like their name implies. Most terrorists are very radical, often blowing up themselves and others around them. An example of this are the twin towers from September 11, 2001. The towers were both destroyed. An example of a terrorist is Osama Bin Laden, who planed the 9/11 attack and was recently killed.
There are many terrorist groups around the world that are quite large and cause a serious threat to safety. The largest of these are al Qaeda and Armed Islamic Group of Algeria.
