The prophecy that the world will end in 2012 is no more right than the prophecy that Mark's Gospel attributes to Jesus, that the world would end within the livetimes of his own generation. And no more right than the many predictions that the world would end at the end of the first millennium CE, or on many other occasions right up to the twentieth century. The world will not end until the sun goes cold in a few billion years time, and we need not worry about that.
