There is no theological consensus as to who wrote the book, although those who consider it to be factual often attribute it to Mordecai. If the attribution to Mordecai is sufficiently widely held, Estherwould be pseudepigraphical according to this definition.

If Esther were in fact mentioned in the Book of Nehemiah, this could be supposed to prove her historicity, in spite of serious historical errors in the Book of Esther. However, the Book of Nehemiah never mentions Esther.
