In 1967 a man named Irvin Feld bought Ringling Brothers and Barnum, and then in 1968 founded the first ever "Clown College". The clown college offered eight week courses in Venice, Florida. The clown college was founded as the basis that the number of clowns was becoming more and more scarce each day. Irvin Feld was quoted saying this about the art form of clowns " I was facing an endangered art form and I knew it". From the years 1968 to 1997 1,400 students made their way through "Clown College".
