Is the Drake Passage dangerous

Any passage round the southern tip of South America, known as Cape Horne, was always dangerous to sailing ships. Drake's Passage is even further south, and only discovered when Drake's ship was forced to the south from Cape Horne by bad weather.

Not particularly, though it depends on the time of year. A novice sailor would be foolish to attempt to sail it without good advice. Care should be taken at all times when sailing, even in good conditions.
