The General Sherman Tree is a tree, not a shrub.

Specifically, there are a number of ways of differentiating a shrub from a tree. A common standard is height, with the demarcation being at 25-30 feet (7.62-9.14 meters). Woody plant specialists typically locate shrubs below the lower range, small trees in between the two ranges, and trees above the upper range. The tree in question (Sequoiadendron giganteum) measures at 275 feet (83.8 meters).
