Not exactly. Halemaʻumaʻu crater is the mains summit crated, but it is only part of the volcano and is not the only vent. Currently Kilauea's activty is currently focused on Pu'u O'o, another vent which has erupted continuously for 30 years.

Compare and contrast a caldera and a crater?

A caldera is an extremely large version of a crater. Yellowstone National Park is enclosed in a volcanic caldera; the rim of it is disguised as lush, green mountains. Supervolcanoes are not the only volcanic systems with calderas, though. The island of Fogo, Cape Verde, is a caldera with a peak stratovolcano, Pico, at it's center. Also, Kilauea in Hawaii has a summit caldera. Craters, like Pu'u O'o (also in Kilauea) are much smaller, but are basically the same.

How did Mt Kilauea eruption affect the area?

The 1790 eruption of Kilauea is considered the most violent in the recent record of eruption of Kilauea. The specific changes of the landscape are not specifically known as there are no artist interpretations or photographs from before the eruption. All that is known about the eruption comes from dating of rocks to the eruption as well as legends from the native Hawaiian people. It is speculated that the eruption could have made the summit caldera up to 1,500 Ft. deep. Also most of the large boulders along the rim of crater drive as well as at the summit are also ejecta from that eruption.
