They are basically the same TV except the LW6500 comes in a bigger size and has a refresh rating of 240 hz. There might be a couple more other features that I don't know about but these are the ones I know. The design might be slightly different too.

Cinema 3D is the term LG uses for their 3D technology. This does not apply to all LG models. Only the passive 3D line in models that start with LW. Ex: LW6500, LW5600.
Yup, LG's recently done an update on its firmware and software of LW6500 to improve the picture quality. Now LW6500 has 1080p resolution and shows 4 frames per second as compared to 2 frames per second. If you're planning on buying a LW6500, it's good time to buy it because they just did the update.
LG only make passive 3D television so they have several cheap models. The LW5600 is currently LG's cheapest series of 3D televisions, so wait for them to go on sale when the LW5700 series replaces them.
Yes, the LW6500 comes in a 65" size. Very nice TV btw.
Yes it is, just as televisions from Sony, Panasonic, Samsung and many others ae good televisions.
Sunglasses are very unlikely to work with 3D television, even the very basic 3D systems used by LG. They certainly won't work with the more advanced active 3D systems.
I would prefer the LG LED TV. Plasma TVs have serious heating issues. You will notice a couple degrees increase in the room once you turn on the plasma for over 30 min. I would recommend the LG LED TV as they are very energy efficient and last longer than plasmas.
LG television uses passive 3D technology. The glasses are cheap and they avoid the problem of flicker that is sometimes reported with active technologies. However, the image is split into two sets of 540 lines, one for each eye. The effective resolution is therefore half that of active televisions.
When you're comparing Samsung UN55D6400 and LG LW5600, you're really comparing active 3D TV and passive 3D Tv. Active 3D TVs send signals to each lens of the shutter glasses at a time to give you the images. This can result in possible flicker and crosstalk. On the other hand, passive 3D TVs let your eyes see both images continually so there is less flciker but this is at the expense of vertical resolution. The effective resolution is reduced from 1080 line to 540 line. Which is the better choice? That's a question that every buyer needs to answer by experiencing as many models as possible. Compare active and passive types and decide which is the most comfortable and most realistic. It's your investment so make sure you get the model that is best for you and your family.
The LG 55 LW5600 is listed under $1000 right now on google. LG make cheap televisions but there are many other budget models that are only a few hundred dollars. Make sure that before you buy any 3D television, experience the performance and pick the best image that meets your budget.
I would recommend LG Cinema 3D. LG Cinema 3D TVs are 3D TVs that use LED backlighting so both you and your fiance get what you want. I had the same dilemma with my girlfriend and we're both happy with LG Cinema 3D. Its LED backlighting gives brigther and more crisp images in both 2D and 3D. Ours is LW6500.
