Although the M249 is a well made gun, it is prone to jamming. Because of its high rate of fire, the box mag mechanism cannot handle the amount of bbs going through it and jams up. it is a simple fix but can be a pain. The other downside is the weight. The gun weighs in at about 15lbs. If you can find a strap that works it makes it much easier to carry, but beware because of the high weight most straps cannot take the weight and will snap. I learned this the hard way, when i was in a skirmish, as i was runnig the strap snapped and the gun fell to the ground cause the barrel to bend. Other than those 2 flaws this gun is amazing. I suggest you use it in 2 ways. Either in sustained fire or short bursts. I hope this is helpful.

The UTG L96 is a sniper bolt actionspring rifle used with a one shot, one kill type of mentality. The sniper only shoots one time with each manual cocking of the gun. Whereas the m249 will be an aeg and shoot fully auto with one trigger pull. The benefit to the sniper gun is that it usually shoots a little farther than the aeg's and so can use distance to off-set the discrepancy in rate of fire.
