I did a google search "remington firearms". Click on History. Model 552 is still in production. If you contact them, they can probably send you an owners manual. Or you can go to http://www.stevespages.com/page7b.htm and he has a whole listing of gun manuals
It is not possible to know what year that the model 552 Remington with serial number 1860769 was made without knowing more about the rifle. The 2013 model of rifle will cost a person around $600 to $800.
Remington Model 552 Speedmaster
Just guessing- since you did not give us a brand name- Remington 552? If so, Remington;s are dated by a letter barrel code- 2 or 3 very small letters, LEFT side of barrel, just ahead of reciever. Please repost with BRAND of rifle, and if Remington, the letters.
If the Remington 552, 22cal. rifle is in mint condition it is worth about 500.00 bucks. It is in very good condition with a scope. My husband passed away and I was wondering how much to ask for it. Any suggestions?
They month and year can be determined by the barrel code, all the details can be found on the Remington Society of America here: http://remingtonsociety.com/rsa/questions/barrelcodes
That could be a 550, 550-1, or a 552 (all speedmasters)550s were from 1941-1970 and the 552 started in 1957 and is still made.
