It basically looks like a normal clawed lobster, like the American lobster, except its head (cephalothorax) and claws are a bit more stout and its tail is slightly smaller relative to the rest of the body. Its coloring varies, dark brown-blue to black-blue is typical. Its claws are very strong and quick, easily capable of breaking an arm or cutting off a finger if you are not careful handling them (not that you would, since they are threatened).
