No. While the United States government is espousing policies further to the left of what had been a decade earlier, they are a far cry from Socialism and are often trying to seek capitalism and private ownership with some governmental intervention rather than direct government ownership or management (which would be socialism).

Socialism is a political theory, and the US is a nation, so they are not terribly similar. I will note that the US has been socialist to at least some degree, since the New Deal of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, going back to the 1930's. But the US uses some elements of socialism and some elements of the free market, as it sees fit.
