The White Queen was not evil when she originally appeared in Lewis Carroll's book Through the Looking Glass.
In his article Alice on the Stage he described her as, "gentle, stupid, fat and pale; helpless as an infant; and with a slow, maundering, bewildered air about her just suggesting imbecility, but never quite passing into it."
She is really quite a nice person, but rather useless.
On the other hand, in Tim Burton's 2010 movie she is portrayed as an archetypal 'good guy' but with a twist - there is a hint, just a suggestion, that she might not be as sweet and nice and good as she appears....
