An Alpine ibex is a stocky member of the goat family that lives in the mountain areas of Europe such as the Alps. The ibex was endangered, but conservation and re-introduction have increased their numbers. They are no longer endangered at this point.

Only the Walia ibex is endangered and the species' endangered status is due to overhunting and habitat loss. The Nubian ibex is listed as Vulnerable but the other species of ibex are all listed as Least Concern by the IUCN.
