The simple answer is no. The auxiliary drive belt or belts run your auxiliary systems (IE AC, Power Steering, Alternator). The timing belt runs valve timing (it keeps your crank shaft and cam shaft or shafts running in time).
PS. If you have a timing belt, you have an interference engine. Therefore the timing belt MUST be changed every 60,000 miles to avoid destroying one or more of your valves (top end engine rebuild or worse).
I have never heard of a cam belt, but a timing belt does drive the cam or cams
No , the serpentine belt is outside of the engine , at the front , and is used to " drive " the accesories . Also , it uses a timing CHAIN instead of a timing belt
No it is not, the timing belt runs the timing of the engine, eg, where the valves close and open to generate compression for combustion. This belt is usually not seen hidden by what they call a "Timing Cover", The drive belt runs the alternator, the power steering pump sometimes the water pump A/C compressor. etc. this belt is is seen.
No, it's not. The timing belt is hidden under the plastic protection and you cannot see if open the hood. You can see the drive belt when you open the hood, it's on the left side of the engine.
No , the serpentine belt is on the outside of the engine , it is used for the engine to " drive " the accessories such as the air conditioning compressor etc. The timing belt is under the timing belt cover on the engine
Yes , a cam belt and a timing belt are the same thing
If you are talking about the timing belt it should run $350 or so. When you get the timing belt replaced-replace the water pump as well. Anothe 100 or so for parts, but labor is the same as the timing belt.
What do you mean by drive belt. If your talking about the serpentine belt, it should have an auto tensioner. Same goes for the timing belt. There is no adjustment. If the belt is loose then it needs to be replaced. ed724
I'v had the same problem. Its most likely to be the auxiliary belt. Get it changed at your local garage. If it was the cam belt then the car wouldn't drive properly.
Yes , cam belt and timing belt mean the same thing
same side of the engine as the timing belt,by the bottom of the timing belt horizontally
The serpentine belt would be the same as the accessory drive belt.
