It's poison is deadly but it's fangs cannot penetrate our skin. However, in NZ we have a spider (White Tail) which feeds on this spider and when we are bitten by the White Tail spider , it usually causes painful lumps where you have been bitten. These can last for months and flare up when your defences are down. It's generally believed that the reaction is caused by the fact that White Tails feed on Daddy Long Legs, although others think that it is caused by infection from the fact that White Tails live in dirt, generally being found in gardens.
