The proper name is the formula bar, but yes a formula or value can be seen there when you have entered a value or formula in a cell.

The two numbers displayed on your Global Entry card are your PASSID number and your membership number.

A value is any kind of number such as regular numbers or dates or times. They are all right aligned. If it starts with an equals sign, then it is a formula. Any number or formula entered with a single quote in front of it is treated as text and not a number or formula, even though you will not see the single quote in the cell.
