The Geneology gets complex but hang on. Mamma Mia ( which means of course, My Mother!) as a Play- was based in part on the movie Buona Sera, Mrs. Campbell- which starred Gina Lollobrigida and three men each claiming to be the father of her illegitimate war-born child. The three men were Peter Lawford ( English or Canadian Officer), Phil Silvers ( Sgt.Bilko ) and Telly Savalas who may have been a Russian Commissar. All ETO personnel! It is rumored that Yul Brynner was offered the role but ditched it. It was not revealed in the film who the putative daddy was.- so we have the play with music by ABBA which is a Swedish Rock Group- from there to film, I said it"s a bit complex. None of the actors mentioned appears in either the play or the film.

"My mom!" and "Oh my!" are two English equivalents of the Italian phrase Mamma mia! The feminine singular noun and possessive serve as an endearment -- "My mommie (mum, mummie)!" -- and as an exclamation -- "Oh my goodness!" -- according to context.
