By now, everyone knows or should know what a telephone is. The telephone was invented so that that people around the world could communicate with each other over large distances. As most know, the phones have come very far from the first invention. Five billion, out of the eighty percent of the world that own mobile phones, now have smart phones with constant connection to the internet, games, hundreds of other people, movies and so many applications that they are difficult to think of. Of course it all had to begin somewhere though, and that beginning was with Alexander Graham Bell who patented the first telephone in 1876.
Hello? Can you hear me now. Not so - it was Watson Bell was calling.
The first telephone call ever made was over 100 years ago now. The call was made on March 10, 1876. Alexander Bell (inventor of the telephone) made the first call.

Alexander Graham Bell is credited with the invention of the first practical "electrical speech machine", which we now call the "telephone", in 1876. By 1878, Bell had set up the first telephone exchange in New Haven, Connecticut. By 1884, long distance connections were made between Boston, Massachusetts and New York City.
