It depends on who is grading the essay. but some teachers who dont agree with what you have to say in an essay will give you a low grade.
Addendum:It can be, but need not be. There are objective criteria for grading any writing. Use of language, syntax, standard vs. irregular grammar and punctuation are all elements that can be objectively graded. Spelling as well can be an objective assessment element. Additionally, it is the responsibility of the grader to assess how well you made and supported your arguments. If conflict or disagreement is possible, the essay writer did not do his job effectively.
Eventually, there can be a subjective element to grading an essay. It is however my opinion as a trained educator that it should not weigh heavily on the final grade.
