mescaline
Yes. It is considered to be the source of an hallucinogenic drug called mescaline.
Peyote is a small, green, spineless, button-shaped cactus that grows in Mexico and the southwestern United States. Its scientific name is Lophophora williamsii. The psychedelic effects of peyote come primarily from the alkaloid mescaline.
Examples of hallucinogens are: LSD, LSA, psilocybin mushrooms, mescaline (Found in peyote or san Pedro cactus), DMT, and research chemicals such as AMT, 2c-b, etc.
Not all cati contain hallucinogenic properties, but the well-know peyote cactus contains mescaline. Mescaline is not necessarily an addictive substance, and peyote is not the only plant that contains Mescaline.
There are many substances that lead up to the high caused by peyote cactus. But the main substance that causes the high is Mescaline. I personally wouldn't go for Peyote as it is extremely long to make and extremely expensive to buy made. 3 Grams is the usual dose but it takes about 10 years to fully grow one tiny matured peyote. I used to be interested in this cactus before i found this out. Try ayahuasca. It takes a long time to make but the ingredients are quite cheap and easy to cultivate. :D
A hallucinogenic mushroom. Psilocybin is actually the active chemical ingredient that causes the hallucinations. For example found in the Cubensis mushroom http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psilocybe_cubensis.
The Hallucinogenic compound found in liberty cap mushrooms is psilocybin psilocybin.
You are thinking of peyote, mescaline is one of the psychoactive drugs in peyote. If you are interested in mescaline SWIM always likes to make a tea of out a one foot San Pedro clipping, bouncing bear is a good source.
The term "Mesclun" applies to a type of lettuce plants raised for salads. The term "mescaline" is an alkaloid psychedelic or hallucinogenic (drug) derived from certain species of cactus; related to "peyote".
The active (hallucinogenic) ingredient in magic mushrooms is called psilocybin.
Mescaline is the common known active ingredient in Peyote. It is not tested for in any drug test. It would only be tested for in a situation in which peyote was suspected to be used. It is not tested for in standard drug test or an extended drug test. This includes hair, urine, blood, sweat and saliva tests.
